There are now options to animate either entire sections or blocks. Under the Style tab, click on Animations to add an animation.
To see live examples of the animations, visit the AOS (Animate on Scroll) library. (Warning: this page has many animations and may negatively affect those affected by animations)
Appropriate Use of Animations
Animations should be used sparingly as a way to highlight a part of a webpage. There are a couple good reasons for this:
- Overuse dilutes the effect. If everything is animated, visitors to your site could be confused what the focus of the page is. If animations are used sparingly, they can effectively pull visitors to a priority of your webpage.
- Animations affect people with vestibular disorders or ADHD. Excessive animations can cause people with vestibular disorders to become nauseous or dizzy after scrolling a page. Those with ADHD may find the animations distracting and make it more difficult to find the what they need. Let's make our webpages a place for everyone.
